France- Day 4: Cake, Shopping, and Second hand stores

Today was a really good day! First, I got to sleep in, because my grandparents went on an errand and weren't there to yell at me, so I got to sleep until eleven thirty, when my mom woke me up to warn me that they warn me that the would be home soon. When I woke up I had a leftover piece of fruit tart for breakfast, and went on my computer for a bit. Then I researched a bit about a cave/chasm system that mom and I are going to visit here, because it is cheaper than I expected it would be! (You'll hear more about it when we actually go). Then I started making my Angel Food cake. Everything went absolutely smoothly and it turned out perfectly! After that I spent some time drawing. First I finished the Dragon that I started yesterday (I still need to finish the background sometime though).

The I started to draw the Chateau (castle) that you can see from my grand parents porch. Then when I finished that I had only taken up half of the page, so I started drawing a tree in their front yard. I originally intended to separate them with scissors, but the pictures somehow melded together so that it looked like the castle was coming out of the tree. I liked it, so it i staying that way! It is funny how the best pieces of art always happen like that, without a plan!

After I finished that, mom and I biked down to town. Biking is a little nerve-racking here, because you have very little space, and the cars don't give you much room since the roads are so small. We walked around town for a little while, first walking down to the beach on the river. It is an artificial beach, but still very nice. It was really crowded though, and the swimming section was almost like a pool, and tiny! That is okay though, we probably just wont swim there. There was a pretty view from the beach though:

Then we walked back up into town and looked at a few different stores. We stopped at a bakery and got some really delicious snacks, as well as some strawberry juice (which is really weird but tasty) and my mom got some iced coffee from an adorable candy store.

Then, we found Narnia. When we were walking we found a little shop, and it had a cute dress in the window, so I decided to go in. Turns out it was a secondhand shop, so everything was super cheap (as in, I didn't buy a single piece of clothing for more than 10 euros) and they had everything I was looking for! (Also, because of my absurd talent for just fitting clothes, every single thing I tried on fit me, even though it was a second hand store!) I have been searching forever for cute blouses, and I bought three different ones there! I also bought three really cute skirts, and an adorable dress! (All for only 46 euros total!) My mom also bought me a really cute jacket! I thought that was really nice of her! It was super exciting, and I am really happy we found that store!

a lacy shirt

I need to sew in the arms a bit, but otherwise it fits

My mom bought this for me :)

The skirt is really cool with a pocket and buckles you can't see in this picture

When we got home, we went down to the garden to pick fresh raspberries, I spent some time trying on clothes, and my grandmother gave me some tights, and five euros in change, which was nice. Then it was time for dinner! We had a really delicious dinner of grilled chicken, tomato salad, and artichokes. It was very good. after dinner my grandpa started getting really grumpy, but I chose to ignore him. My mom, grandma, aunt, and I all went inside to work on dishes and dessert. We found out we didn't have any cream to make the raspberry whipped cream I had originally planned to make, but instead we made a sauce using fresh raspberries, vanilla, sugar and a thing called creme freshe, which is like a richer version of sour cream. It was really good, and looked beautiful.

we sat and talked for a little while, but I left, because I could feel tension growing between my family (everyone is always fighting) so I went upstairs to look at recipes for my next baking adventure! Apparently I left just in time because, according to my mom, everyone got into a huge fight soon after. It got so bad that my uncle threatened that he was just going to leave tomorrow. mom has informed me since that everything has settled down now, most likely due to the fact that she was steadily supplying everyone with alcohol! Anyways, now I am just waiting for her to come take pictures of my new clothes, it could be awhile though, so I will either have this updated tonight or tomorrow morning!

Well, goodnight everyone!
