Today marks the sad end of a good friend. Well, a car, but all the same (It wasn't even my car). I don't know the entire story, but Luke's sister was driving his car, and it ended up totaled. Its a little bit sad actually, despite the fact that I know very little about cars, he made it out to be a great one, and he seemed very fond of it. It's name was Lucy.
Now, this is (now was) a very little known secret: I was actually pretty fond of the thing. I might be a titch apathetic about cars, but I'll admit Lucy had her charms. She was cozy, and charming. Some good memories with her too, I loved just hanging out as Luke would drive around. It was funny, because I always knew where Luke had parked, because I could recognize the plastic bumper on the car, and had memorized the last half of the license plate. I would always look for it as I walked to the shop.
So many memories though.
There was the time where Travis was sticking his legs out of the sunroof, while we drove back from Walmart in the middle of the night, returning to Stacey's bonfire.
There's Luke's 'reckless but safe' driving.
There's driving around in the middle of the night, just chatting, because I didn't need to be home due to my mom working.
There's the time we fixed the car with duct tape on our LOTR day.
Driving to Mankato to get headphones.
A long drive on a pretty day that cheered me up when I was sad.
Sitting on the front of the car, waiting at Tanner's apartment, and Luke commenting that Anyone else would get yelled at, but I was small enough that it was ok.
The times that we just sat and chatted in his car, while sitting in my driveway.
That little car. I will admit now, I liked it, and I liked the memories in it.
I don't think I've ever developed a fondness for a car, and I never would have admitted it out loud, as long as she was still in use, but I really did like Lucy. She was a nice car. It's sad to see her go.
What about the Corsica?? You seemed fon of her :-P
